Wsus not updating windows 8 clients

I have also disabled the "Do not adjust option to'Install Updates and Shut Down' option in Shut Down Windows dialog box'" which i thought would mean the default option at shut down would be to install updates and shutdown.As per its description: If you disable or do not configure this policy setting, the 'Install Updates and Shut Down' option will be the default option in the Shut Down Windows dialog box if updates are available for installation at the time the user selects the Shut Down option in the Start menu.Occasionally, you might discover a client that isn’t automatically installing updates correctly.Such clients are typically identified during software update audits.I've tried setting the GPO option here to bypass with the intent of making sure the box gets updates straight from WSUS and not from other clients.https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/mni ... s-10-1607/Adding KB3176495 as a preinstall package for one of my deployments via MDT seemed to help but it isn't working now. They are still required to open Windows Update and manually click 'Instal;l Updates'.... Do not display install updates and shut down option....not ideal from my perspective, as you could imagine, some users are not installing them at all. : Disabled Do not adjust option to install and shut down......

Update 1 is still a required update, meaning without it no further security updates will be offered, however, the new date for completion is August 12, 2014.

If you google the issue, it appears that Windows 1607 doesn't play nice with WSUS.

It likes to get stuck downloading updates and never go anywhere.
